Affirmation Action is action taken by the committee to remedy the effects of discrimination and to stop such discrimination.   The Volusia County Democratic Executive Committee, Affirmation Action program shall include special effects to include members of minority groups.

 

The term “Affirmative Action” was first used by President Lyndon B. Johnson in 1965.   Many state and local governments also have an affirmative action requirement as part of their civil rights program.
