The
Volusia
County
Democratic
Executive
Committee
(VCDEC)
is the
Official
branch
of the
Florida
Democratic
Party in
Volusia
County.
The DEC
has
oversight
of all
Democratic
Party
activities
within
Volusia
County.
It
carries
all
directives
and
authorities
granted
to it by
the
Florida
Democratic
Party
and by
Florida
Statutes
(Section
103.091)
within
Volusia
County.
Democratic
Clubs
chartered
by the
Volusia
County
Democratic
Executive
Committee
are
accountable
to and
must
coordinate
their
activities
with the
Volusia
County
Democratic
Executive
Committee.
Volusia
County
encompass
the
following
cities:
Daytona
Beach,
Daytona
Beach
Shores,
Debary,
Deland,
Deleon
Springs,
Deltona,
Edgewater,
Holly
Hill,
Lake
Helen,
New
Smyrna
Beach,
Oak
Hill,
Orange
City,
Ormond
Beach,
Ormond-by-the-Sea,
Pierson,
Ponce
Inlet,
Port
Orange
and
South
Daytona.
The
VCDEC
membership
meets
every
fourth
Monday
of
each
month
at
7:00pm.
Meeting
location
is

on
the
main
page
of
this
website
and
on
our
calendar
All
members
of the
VCDEC
are
Precinct
Officers
(Precinct
Committeeperson)
for the
precinct
in which
they
reside.
If the
positions
are
already
filed,
an
at-large
appointment
is made.
The
office
of
Precinct
Committeeperson
is
without
any
question
the most
important
position
in the
entire
Democratic
Party.
Harry
Truman
once
stated
that it
was the
most
important
position
he ever
held. A
Precinct
Committeeperson
is a
Democratic
Party
official
at the
local
level
elected
to serve
as the
party
leader
in the
precinct.

to sign
the
Democratic
Oath of
Loyalty
prior to
being
sworn in
as a new
member
of the
Volusia
County
Democratic
Executive
Committee.
Members
of the
VCDEC
are
required
to
maintain
attendance
at all
Democratic
Executive
Committee
Meetings
in
accordance
with the
bylaws
of the
Florida
Democratic
Party
(currently
three
unexcused
absences
allowed
per
year.)
